As someone who possesses the perfect balance of razor-sharp financial skills, an easy ability to relate to people and distill complex ideas into easy to understand concepts, combined with an unflagging work ethic, Kevin Dean’s success in any career path was virtually assured.
He joined Newport in 2011, after several years as a popular Lecturer in Business Management & Financial Accounting at the renowned Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, his alma mater.
Having also earned his CFA designation (the highest distinction in the investment management profession), Kevin set his course on honing and expanding his wealth planning skills to be able to provide holistic wealth planning for clients. Today, he is a Certified International Wealth Manager and holds Certificates in Retirement Strategy and Estate and Trust Planning from the Canadian Securities Institute. Kevin uses his analytical mind and strong educational background to deliver to his clients a rich and fulsome wealth management experience that encompasses their entire financial picture.
Kevin is a voting member of Newport’s Investment Committee which sets the firm’s asset mix, strategy, and investment decisions. As Kevin explains, “I love the dual-aspects of my job: I get to teach and work with clients exploring and explaining the factors affecting their financial well-being while also having the opportunity to analyze and work with top investment managers as we navigate the strategy for Newport’s portfolios.”
Kevin grew up in Horseshoe Valley, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for sport and the outdoors. Along with his wife Jennifer, he now enthusiastically spends his extra time encouraging these passions with his two kids Austin and Addison.
