Newport Private Wealth expands to Waterloo

Daniel Girard, Alan Pilkey and team join Newport

Toronto, Canada, June 28, 2022 – Newport Private Wealth, one of Canada’s largest wealth management firms serving high-net-worth individuals and families, is pleased to announce that it has opened a location in Waterloo, Ontario to better serve clients in the area. Leading the Waterloo client service team is Daniel Girard, who brings more than 25 years of comprehensive wealth management experience to Newport. Girard is joined at Newport by Alan Pilkey, Emad Amer, Natasha Benko and Sheri Struth, all of whom have worked with Dan and his clients in Waterloo for many years.

“As we continue to help Canadians achieve their financial and personal goals, it’s exciting to strengthen Newport’s presence in Waterloo,” says Douglas Brown, President & CEO of Newport Private Wealth. “With the addition of Dan and his team to Newport, we continue to significantly add to our bench. We’re delighted that clients in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and beyond will be able to tap into this expertise.”

Dan has been working with and helping high-net-worth families from all walks of life in the Waterloo Region since 1999.

“For over 20 years my team and I have believed that strong technical expertise, combined with a focus on service and a client-centric approach, leads to the best results and experience,” says Daniel Girard. “In joining Newport, I’m joining a firm that shares that same vision. Newport’s unique investment platform and financial planning resources will help my team provide exceptional wealth management services to both existing and new clients. I’m thrilled to be joining Newport and look forward to helping clients for years to come.”

Brown, along with partners Mark Kinney and David Lloyd, founded Newport Private Wealth in 2001, following the sale of a predecessor wealth management firm to a major bank. They needed a solution for their own wealth and believed they could provide a better offering to affluent Canadians. “What was missing was the client’s perspective,” says Brown. “We created Newport from the ground up, adopting the best practices we learned over many years and eliminating conflicts of interest, so that we were perfectly aligned with our clients.”

Since the company’s inception 21 years ago, Newport has attracted an extensive client base across Canada – from entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals and retirees, to some of the country’s wealthiest multi-generational families. They count on Newport to provide holistic wealth planning in addition to discretionary investment management.

“If you’re just managing your investments, you’re not truly managing your wealth,” observes Brown. “We help people better manage their entire balance sheet and all the issues inherent to wealth. We look forward to extending that philosophy and service offering to clients in our new Waterloo home.”
