Building a successful medical career requires focus, discipline and time. Managing your financial life with that same level of attention can be challenging, especially when your day-to-day responsibilities leave little room for it.
Whether you are early in your career or more established in your practice, having a clear understanding of your financial position is an important step toward long-term success.
As part of our ongoing video series, Amélie Beauregard, Portfolio Manager, shares a practical framework designed specifically for medical professionals. It is intended to help identify gaps, bring clarity to your financial picture and support more informed decision-making.

I’m Amélie Beauregard, a Portfolio Manager at Newport Private Wealth. We have developed a comprehensive financial strategy for medical professionals, and today I would like to walk through an important part of that strategy.
The demands of a medical practice can make it difficult for high-achieving professionals to manage their finances with the same level of attention they bring to other areas of their life.
Whether you are a recent graduate or have been in practice for several years, it is essential to have a clear understanding of your financial situation.
At Newport, we work closely with medical professionals to help build a strong foundation for long-term financial success.
Four key areas to assess:
When reviewing your financial affairs, there are four core areas to consider:
- Your practice
- Investments
- Tax
- Wealth planning
In this video, we focus on investments and provide a simple checklist to help you evaluate where you stand today.
A quick investment check
For each of the following statements, consider whether your answer is yes, no or I do not know:
- I understand where I am invested
- I understand how I am invested
- My portfolio is getting the right attention from my advisors
- My portfolio is properly diversified, including both public and private asset classes
- My personal and corporate assets are working effectively together
- My advisor understands my needs and goals
If you answered no or I do not know more often than yes, that is completely normal. The purpose of this exercise is not to identify shortcomings, but to highlight areas that may benefit from additional focus or support.
Turning insight into action
Once these gaps are identified, the next step is to address them in a structured and thoughtful way.
Bringing clarity to your investment strategy can help ensure your assets are aligned with your goals, your risk tolerance and your broader financial plan.
Over time, this can lead to a more organized and optimized financial future.
A final note
For many medical professionals, time is one of the most limited resources. Having the right financial structure in place can help ensure your wealth is working as effectively as possible in the background.
If you would like a more complete picture of your financial position, you can download the full checklist or connect with our team to discuss your specific situation.
At Newport Private Wealth, we are here to help you build a strong financial foundation for the future.
