Shauna George CFA, CFP
Over the course of her career, Shauna has come to believe that, as she states it, “Understanding the investment markets is typically made up of three parts: one-part math, one-part psychology and one-part patience to wait for the first two parts to come together.” Graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in International Finance and a minor in Psychology from McMaster University helped Shauna to master the first two. The third has been a learned behaviour as a result of spending the last 22 years helping both institutional and individual clients to better manage their investment portfolios and, in the case of the latter, their wealth.
Post-graduation, Shauna spent the first half of her career on Bay Street in Toronto honing her expertise as a global equities analyst. In 2011, she accepted a position as a portfolio manager for incorporated physicians and relocated to Kelowna, BC to be closer to her family. Shauna joined the Newport team in 2016 to further develop the firm’s client base in Western Canada. In addition to holding the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Shauna has also obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification.
Shauna is actively involved in the community as a Board Member for the KGH Foundation, past President of the CFA Society Okanagan, and member of the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary club. In her spare time, she can usually be found on a local golf course, paddle-boarding on the lake, or skiing at Big White.
