Kevin A. Dean, CFA®, CIWM

Kevin brings a rare combination of financial rigour and sound judgement to his work as Chief Executive Officer of Newport. He leads the firm’s overall strategy and direction while remaining closely engaged with the clients and colleagues who have shaped his career here.

He joined Newport in 2011, after several years as a lecturer in Business Management & Financial Accounting at the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, his alma mater. He is a CFA charterholder, a Certified International Wealth Manager, with certificates in Retirement Strategy and Estate and Trust Planning — a foundation that has long shaped how he thinks about the full financial picture of the families Newport serves.

As CEO, Kevin's focus is on the platform, the people, and the client experience. Newport was built on a client-first approach grounded in shared values and a strong culture, and his priority is to keep that intact as the firm grows.

Kevin is a longstanding voting member of Newport's Investment Committee, helping set the firm's asset mix, strategy, and investment decisions alongside his role guiding the firm's future growth. “I’ve always loved the dual aspects of this work,” Kevin says, “teaching and guiding clients through what impacts their financial well-being, while also helping Newport evolve with discipline and purpose.”

Kevin grew up in Horseshoe Valley, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for sport and the outdoors. Along with his wife, he spends his free time encouraging these same passions in his two children.
