Matt Reynolds, CFA®, MFA-P™

Chief Growth Officer

Matt is deeply invested in Newport's platform and the people behind it, and he believes the firm's sustainable growth trajectory follows directly from being able to attract and retain the best and brightest in the country. As Chief Growth Officer, he is responsible for developing new business lines, recruiting new advisors and partners into the firm and sourcing acquisition candidates. Matt joined Newport in 2002, and became Managing Director, Corporate Finance in 2006 under the guidance of mentor, Don Lenz – advising on more than $1 billion in capital raising and divestiture mandates – ranging from Ultra High Net Worth family-owned enterprises to some of Canada’s largest Crown corporations.

In 2012, Matt founded Newport's referral network and since that time has been directly involved in the recruitment or sourcing of nearly half of the firm’s AUM. He returned to his Western roots in 2021 to expand the firm's national reach through the buildout of its Kelowna and Calgary offices.

Matt grew up in Vermilion, Alberta and holds a Commerce degree from McGill University, the Master Financial Advisor – Philanthropy designation and is a CFA charterholder. He served for five years as Vice Chair of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada. Prior to Newport, Matt worked as an analyst with two boutique firms in Toronto and Boston, covering public and private energy infrastructure and technology companies.

He has raced in several Ironman triathlons and is the proud father of five children. In what spare time remains, Matt can be found at the local YMCA or at the Harvest Golf Club in Kelowna.
