Jordan Schwann CFA
A Calgary native, Jordan began his career as a corporate analyst in the energy sector before moving to PwC’s consulting practice in Australia serving institutional clients. Having spent most of his career managing financial risk on behalf of large institutions, he knew individual investors stood to benefit greatly from adopting some of the approaches used in the institutional world. Newport Private Wealth’s pension-style approach to investing and focus on risk management made the firm a natural fit.
In Jordan’s words, “why should an investor accept any more risk than required to meet a given investment objective? Most clients easily recall their recent returns, but rarely do they fully understand the risk in their portfolio.” By using some of the same principals of sophisticated institutions, Jordan helps clients find a balance between risk and reward in order to meet their investment objectives.
Jordan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
In his free time he enjoys travelling and has participated in various runs for charity with his longest distance being a half marathon in Australia.
