If there is one thing that defined Don Lenz’s extraordinary forty-five year investment career, it was his ability to build relationships.

From his first job with AE Ames, in 1970, he was a relationship manager. In 1976, he joined Goldman Sachs in New York as Vice President, Corporate Finance where his focus was on serving corporate Canada.

“What I loved best was meeting with senior management to learn about their strategy and goals for the business. Then we would come up with a strategy for how they could achieve that through the capital markets – whether it be through debt, preferred or common equity issues or mergers and acquisitions,” he explains.

In 1986, Don returned to Canada to take a job as Vice President and Director of the Corporate and Investment Banking division of RBC Dominion Securities, a role he held until he joined Newport Private Wealth in 2001. Don was a Senior Consultant with Newport and a tremendously valued member of Newport’s Investment Committee.

In his spare time, Don enjoyed spending time with his wife, three daughters and five grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling, including trips back to Don’s native home in Saskatchewan.
