Family Wealth Strategist
Matt Brady, Family Wealth Strategist at Newport Private Wealth, approaches family wealth planning with a global lens and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset, helping clients navigate complex financial decisions with clarity and confidence.
After growing up in Ontario, Matt spent nearly 20 years in Hong Kong working in the bond markets and building trusted relationships across the financial industry. In 2022, when he and his family returned to Canada, they settled in Kelowna, B.C., drawn by its quality of life and connection to the outdoors.
Matt specializes in estate planning, insurance-based tax strategies, and holistic risk management. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation, an MBA from the Ivey Business School where he graduated as an Ivey Scholar and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Before joining Newport, Matt founded his own strategic family planning firm, where he worked closely with families and business owners to align their financial decisions with what mattered most. At Newport, he builds on that foundation as part of a respected national team, offering clients a more comprehensive approach to protecting and growing their wealth.
Matt is especially passionate about coordinating efforts among a family’s key professionals—such as accountants, lawyers, and other specialists—to ensure every aspect of their financial life works together seamlessly. “You can have the best experts in each field, but without someone connecting the dots, opportunities can be missed,” he explains. “What I enjoy most is drawing on a wide range of resources. When you're in a room tackling a challenge, having perspectives from different disciplines often leads to the best solutions.”
An active member of his community, Matt is a proud member of the BC Cancer Foundation’s Trusted Advisor Circle. His wife’s experience as a cancer survivor has further shaped his commitment to helping families plan with care and resilience. He also works closely with clients to incorporate charitable giving into their long-term financial goals.
Outside of work, Matt embraces the Okanagan lifestyle with his wife and three children. Favourite activities include skiing, hiking, biking and enjoying time on the lake.
